The RB26DETT engine is often plagued with oil lubrication issues during circuit and drag racing events which are the main causes of most RB26 engine failures. This problem causes the main bearings to abnormally wear out from the lack of oil pressure. The stock pump is not capable of supplying the adequate amount of oil to maintain the right oil pressures at extreme engine speeds that the high powered monster RB26 performance engines require. Another weak point is that the stock pumps gear is made from weak sintered metal and this often breaks when going for bigger power and higher engine speeds and when this little piece gives out can cause an instant loss of your engine. The TOMEI RB26 oil pump has a larger pump gear made of high strength materials to supply a larger flow rate to the engine and it has an external oil pressure adjuster as well. One of the main causes of engine problems on an EJ20 are the bearings. The majority of the causes of these issues are due to the lack of motor oil in the oil pan (sump) and passages. Also, the lack of rigidity in the crank case is also another problem facing this engine design. Under extensive research, Tomei Powered which decided to develop a product that securely remedies these problems. This baffle stiffener will help strengthen the left and right side of the crankcase to help provide the added support with its dual structural design. The rubber baffle design greatly aids the regulation of the oil supply. This gives added control to reduce blowby for EJ20 owners who use their cars for high performance driving. In drift and circuit running or drag racing, intense G of both vertical and horizontal direction causing clumsy oil circulation that will lead engine to blow. We developed oversize oil pan for SR20 and installed to our N2 racing silvia to prove its highest performance. SR20 oversize oil pan allows gaining 600cc of its capacity without changing its distance to the ground. At the same time, partition and swinging plate inside secures certain oil circulation to every part of the engine even under the condition of cornering G.

The SR20 engine's oil block tends to fail due to the weak oil filter sensor screw which oftens breaks. We at TOMEI had found the problem while we were competing in professional N2 race series over 10 years ago. So we designed this upgraded product which solved the problem. When the vehicle is on the corner or the time of acceleration and deceleration, oil in the oil pan will lean or jump. To prevent these to happen, baffle is assembled in the pan of stock engine. Though, in terms of sports driving, it is almost impossible to achieve its purpose because the size of the baffle is restricted to cut down the production cost. If oil leans to one side largely, air goes in to the pipe instead of oil and interrupts continuous oil lubrication. Without oil, metal surface contact directly each other, then the temperature rises explosively and causing worn out if its lasts long. Keeping track of proper oil function inside an engine assembly is vital, especially during high performance driving. This product in essence serves the same purpose as the standard 4G63 baffle except that it has been redesigned for increased efficiency, preventing catastrophic problems such as oil pressure drop. One of the common weak points of both the 4G63 & the 4B11 is the rise of oil temperature. It is seen more often during hard driving at closed tracks and other events. The EVO uses a thermo switch that will activate when the temperature gets around 85¢J. Yet when the oil temperature is low, it won't activate thus restricting oil flow to the oil cooler which then consequently raises the oil temperature to unwanted levels. Our TOMEI oil thermo killer allows oil to flow into the oil cooler constantly regardless of the oils temperature. It is still easy to revert back to the stock thermo switch during winter periods to prevent over cooling as well.

The Orifice controls the amount of oil flow that is delivered to the head to lubricate the parts in the cylinder head and to cool down the engine assembly. However the stock oil-gallery orifice has a hole that is too large which allows too much oil to be delivered to the cylinder head which will cause the problems as listed below.

(1) Too much blow-by Gas,
(2) Blowing engine oil,
(3) Leaking oil through the valve guides,
(4) Insufficient oil delivery to the crank journal,
(5) Allows air pockets into the system from when the oil pan is under horizontal G-Forces.

The TOMEI oil gallery orifice was designed from the experience and data we had obtained from the development of our N1 endurance and drag racing engines. By restricting the diameter of the orifice to £p1.5mm (Normal is £p2.0mm) we succeeded in securing enough lubrication to the camshaft and valve while maintaining the correct amount of oil in the oil pan which resolved the common problems. (For added Blow by prevention, we recommend using the TOMEI 3D Profile pistons.)
